Every time you listen to a movie whose story revolves around a journey of women, you know what to expect. Something similar happens with Netflix’s new movie, The Weekend Away. However, in this case things get even more complicated.
Beth and Kate are close friends and decide to take a trip together to Croatia
Kate had to work hard to convince Beth of this trip, as she is now married with a baby at home. When they have decided to spend the weekend together, they imagine a relaxed atmosphere, walks in the sea and endless conversations. Of course, Kate imagines a lot of parties at a frantic pace, wanting to give Beth a chance to be carefree.
After a little quarrel about what each one wants, Beth is finally persuaded to continue in one of the clubs in the city. However, the next morning he wakes up and learns that Kate was found dead, floating in the sea. Without remembering much from the night before and with the police accusing her of Kate’s murder, Beth is called upon to put together the pieces of a puzzle that has no beginning and no end. He learns that they found themselves in their hotel room with two men after the club, who are involved in criminal organizations. At the same time, the only person who seems to support and help her is equally guilty in her eyes.
The Weekend Away promises many upheavals
And this is something that you already realize from the movie trailer. Beth ends up looking for those who may have caused this to her boyfriend, always questioning herself about what she might have done under the influence of alcohol. Certainly such a turn of events does not seem ideal for the trip of two friends abroad.
The movie is the perfect occasion to see Gossip Girl’s Leighton Meester on your screen again and in a very different role this time.
The Weekend Away will have its world premiere on Netflix on March 3.
