Tribute to the unforgettable theater creator, Lefteris Vogiatzis organizes the Athens and Epidaurus Festival, on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of his birth. The legendary “Antigone” of Nea Skeni, directed by Lefteris Vogiatzis in Epidaurus in 2006, with him in the role of Creon and Amalia Mutousi in the title role, will be shown on June 21, 22 and 23 at Choros D, Piraeus 260.

This is the sold out show that was praised by the audience and critics and was presented for two consecutive years at the Ancient Theater of Epidaurus.

The screening we will watch is a recording of the performance that was repeated in Epidauria in 2007. On June 22, there will be a discussion with the participation of the performers of the show, who will talk about the indelible mark of this unique artist on the modern Greek scene. The discussion will be moderated by the artistic director of the Athens and Epidaurus Festival, Katerina Evagelatos, who was his close collaborator.

Lefteris Vogiatzis served the Greek theater for 40 years as an actor and director. His name has been identified with the assertion of the absolute, with passion, self-denial. He was an uncompromising man of the theater, a poet of the stage and a tireless researcher of the art of acting, who radically changed the perspective of the theater audience and his many collaborators along the way.

He had managed to make each of his theatrical performances a separate artistic event, innovative, highly aesthetic and creative, and left an indelible mark on the Greek theatrical landscape.
