“We don’t force you to come to any of our concerts – it’s your choice,” the band said in a statement.
The Placebos have issued a statement responding to those who criticized them for the technical issues during their recent concert at the OpenAir Festival St. Gallen, in Switzerland.
On June 30, Placebo were invited to perform at the Festival alongside The Chainsmokers and Queens Of The Stone Age. During their concert, the band encountered a series of technical problems that forced them to leave the stage much earlier than expected.
The band has since been criticized for their performance and further controversy erupted between fans, leading Brian Molko to issue a statement on social media. “We noticed a lot of discussions, arguments, accusations and skirmishes between our fans in relation to our concert at the St Gallen Festival. We have also received many insults. So we would like to clarify what happened during our concert at the Festival.”

“Right after the start Stefan Olsdal started having technical problems until finally the guitar system stopped working completely. So he couldn’t play any song for long. Every effort has been made to resolve the issue by our world-renowned technicians, but to no avail” supports.
Brian Molko explained that the band decided not to leave the stage and instead decided to perform their best with Stefan Olsdal on bass. He also acknowledged that the band made sure to explain what was going on to the audience.
“Placebo doesn’t use recordings on stage. Everything is 100% live. It seems obvious that this is still insufficient for some demanding people who think they are superior. Technical issues and concerts ending early are part and parcel of live performance.” states.
“If the idea of this inevitability continues to infuriate you, we suggest you watch bands that record most of the music performed on stage. We also suggest that you gain an objective perspective and try to see this situation from a perspective other than your own – if you are at all capable. That’s a polite way of saying – get a life” notes.
“We don’t force you to come to any of our concerts – it’s your choice. Please feel free to make this choice in the future and stop insulting our loyal fans in the virtual world” adds the Placebo singer.
