The difficulties and miracles he experienced
She spoke about the most difficult moments of her life Maria Ekmectsioglou and how she experienced psychological abuse from her husband in an interview she gave to the published So. One of them was an accident of her son that almost cost him his life when they were still children.
-You had also experienced something very difficult, when one of your sons was hospitalized in the intensive care unit after a traffic accident.
“Indeed it was something very difficult, but he could not take me down, because what would my other two children do. They were young and they were waiting for me in the car while I was outside the intensive care unit waiting to see my son and understand his condition.
He was only 6.5 years old when he was hit by a car and I stood up to give strength to my other children who were asking about their brother. I was 25 years old and in the first 24 hours that my son was in the intensive care unit, two tufts of my hair turned white from grief.”
– Have you ever experienced a miracle in your life?
“I believe a lot in God and I have experienced two miracles. One is that my son came out of a very serious car accident unscathed, without any problems for his later life.
The second miracle I experienced was with my mother who had died. I had just given birth to my second child, it was noon, I was tired, I had nursed the baby and put it in its cradle. I told my eldest son who was 2 years old at the time “lay down next to me and let’s rest”. He laid down next to me and while we were sleeping, I see my mom on the garden terrace knocking on my window in a purple long dress that she loved very much. He was showing me the baby’s cradle without speaking.
Then, I wake up running to the crib to see my older son has taken a pillow and put it on the baby’s head to quiet him because he was crying. He didn’t understand that she was suffocating him. I get up scared and take the pillow out, and the baby starts to breathe.
I turn around and tell my mother “thank you for picking me up” and realize she’s not alive and just came to warn me. My mother though she was dead appeared to me and saved my baby’s life. This is a miracle that I experienced and I tell my children too. People who are dying are always by our side, as long as we know how to call them and look for them.”

– You stated that in your first marriage you experienced psychological abuse. What advice do you have for women who may be experiencing something similar?
“Women naturally have a strength because we can and we give birth, and if we don’t give birth, we still have the strength to cope with life, which is more difficult than that of a man.
A woman who is unhappy for whatever reason should not sit and endure a bad marriage. She has to save herself. Only if she is strong will she give strength to her children. If a woman is weak, then she will raise weak creatures in society.”
– What gave you the strength to leave this marriage?
“I felt that I have to make my own life. When you get married at a young age, it’s hard for a marriage to last for many years. I was raising three children by myself, that is, I didn’t have my parents, my in-laws, so I was experiencing a psychological fatigue.
All this together played a role and I decided to take my life in my hands. I always had great faith in God and he helped me in my decisions.”
