Beyoncé will offer scholarships to students at the State University of Bahia (UNEB) who are in a situation of social vulnerability. The project is a partnership between BeyGOOD, a foundation created by the singer, and the Bahian educational institution.
According to an announcement released by UNEB last Wednesday (24), 15 undergraduate students, in person or remotely, can benefit. Each selected student will receive a scholarship. for a total amount of US$2,000 (approximately R$10,000), which must be deposited in a single installment.
According to the statement, not all students at the university are eligible for the student aid. Applicants must be registered with CadÚnico — a federal government program for low-income families —, be over 18 years old, not be employed and not receive any type of grant.
In addition, the student must have good academic performance: he/she must have completed at least 20% and at most 90% of the total course load and have an academic performance of at least 7.
Applications will be open from August 7 to 21, and must be submitted on the university’s website. The results of the approval of applications will be announced on September 2. The scholarships are expected to be awarded in the 2024 academic year.
The partnership between UNEB and BeyGOOD was signed at the end of 2023, when Beyoncé was in Salvador to promote the film “Renaissance”.
