The singer’s brother was shocked and spoke of a “disgusting” figure
The Dublin Wax Museum retired her figure Sinead O’Connor following reactions from members of her family and members of the public that she doesn’t look like her at all.
The wax figure of the late singer was unveiled last week to coincide with the first anniversary of her death.
Sinead O’Connor’s brother John O’Connor told RTÉ he was unaware the wax figure had been commissioned, saying he was “shocked” by the “disgusting” figure.
“When I saw it online I was shocked. I thought it looked like something between a doll and something from Thunderbirds. I thought Sinead would love to look good and if she was supposed to be a representation of her when she did “Nothing Compares 2 U” she just doesn’t look like her at all. I think it was awful” he said.
Museum director Paddy Dunning (a personal friend of Sinead’s) apologized to John and promised to make things right. “We have to make it better” he admitted.

“We recognize that the portrayal does not meet our high standards or the expectations of Sinead’s devoted fans” it is mentioned in an announcement of the Museum. “We have listened carefully to the reactions and agree that the figure does not fully capture Sinead’s unique presence and essence as we intended” is noted.
The Museum team met and decided to withdraw the wax figure of the Irish singer, admitting that “it can do better” and pledging to create a “more accurate representation”.
