And an episode isn’t shot in sequence, it’s shot with a schedule that comes out of production to group the scenes and the actors in them. Which means that maybe two or three or even more scenes with a certain outfit and hairstyle and makeup of the actors have been shot not just on different days but also on different weeks. That is why there is the racor, that is, the notes of every detail so that it is the same in the next shoot when it is done.

So imagine that a leading man or a leading lady has shot a scene with white skin and the very next thing they’re covered in tan (and they can’t always “steal” it with make-up or lighting). The productions ask the actors not to sunbathe in the summer.
