Eliana, Celso Portiolli and celebrities mourn the death of Silvio Santos: ‘He will always be the greatest’

Journalists, friends and celebrities used social media to pay tribute to Silvio Santos, who died this Saturday (17), aged 93.

Carlos Alberto de Nóbrega, a comedian from SBT, posted a photo with the owner of the station. “It was 70 years of friendship and a longing that will be eternal.” Fellow presenter Ronnie Von said he was speechless. “Rest in peace, Silvio.”

Celso Portiolli, the host of the show, said that his gratitude to Silvio will be eternal and that Brazil has lost a legend. “He taught me to dream big. My gratitude will be eternal, as will his impact on every Brazilian home. To his family, friends and millions of fans who, like me, feel orphaned at this time, I send my deepest condolences. You are and always will be the greatest.”

Eliana, who left the house this year after 15 years of partnership, called him a beloved master when posting a photo in which she hugged the communicator. “This is how I want to remember you. Thank you for all the teachings. Rest in peace.

Ana Maria Braga stated that TV will once again be in black and white. “A day when we lost color and joy. The history of television will forever be marked by the legacy of this great and unique communicator. While we mourn his passing here, we are certain that heaven is already in a celebratory mood. Go with God, Silvio Santos.”

Sergio Mallandro recalled his visit to the channel in 1981, and said he found a leader and a teacher. “You were a second father, thank you for everything, I love you.”

Singers Dudu Nobre and Thaeme also mourned the death. “The greatest is gone, you fulfilled your mission. Go with God.”

The Corinthians football club also paid tribute. “One of the greatest presenters in the history of Brazil, Silvio Santos hosted SBT’s Sundays for many decades. Always irreverent, Silvio never hid his passion for Timão.”

Boninho, director of reality shows at Globo, said that Silvio was the greatest television professional. “Silvio entertained us for many years, with his humor, his joy and passion for making television.”

Actress Regiane Alves also posted a photo with Silvio. “Today Brazilian TV loses an icon who will forever be marked in its history. My condolences to his family and friends.”

Actor Mauricio Meirelles said that the communicator was his inspiration in his career and the greatest communicator the country has ever had. “One of the greatest Brazilians in history. For me, the greatest of this generation. May God bless Silvio and his entire family.”
