After leaving a hospital where he was admitted, singer and composer Moacyr Franco, 87, was informed this Tuesday (20) about the death of Silvio Santos, presenter and owner of SBT with whom he lived throughout his artistic career.
“They didn’t want me to know about your trip,” he said in a video in the form of a chronicle published on Instagram. In the tribute, Franco “talks” to his friend to the sound of “Pedágio”, one of his compositions, and makes comments and confidences about the farewell.
“I was amazed at the number of close friends you had, who taught you, guided you, and encouraged you,” he said, with a hint of irony. “Ah, the trip. I didn’t know you were going so far. I didn’t even imagine you were so alone. Ah, business, it was business. On earth as it is in heaven.”
The artist continues saying that Silvio Santos’ business on this “trip” is about love, friendship and eternity.
“Your most distant friends are suffering a lot, crying. They really love you.”
In a confidential tone, Franco reveals that he felt envious of the presenter as a father. Santos left behind six daughters from two marriages: CÃntia, Silvia, Daniela, PatrÃcia, Rebeca and Renata.
The friend hopes the trip will be smooth. “Everything is fine. The only thing is that we won’t be able to smile and sing.”
Franco ends the video singing: “We only live for nine months. For the rest, my friend, we travel.” In the original lyrics, the lyrics say “for the rest, my friend, we die.”
Franco was fired from SBT in November 2017 and seven years later he said that he had offered to work for free at “Praça É Nossa”. He did not want to leave the station after almost 20 years there. Even so, executives at Silvio Santos’ company preferred to dismiss him: “I still don’t understand anything,” he said.
