Singer Lily Allen, 39, has been canceled on social media for a statement she made on her podcast that even led to institutions condemning her. The singer said she returned an adopted puppy after it ate her passports.

The topic came up after she said she was now thinking about adopting a new pet. She recalled when a puppy adopted during the pandemic chewed up her documents and those of her two daughters, Ethel, 12, and Marnie, 11.

The speech was echoed by the international press, such as Sky News. “[O cachorro] ate all three of our passports and they had our visas and I can’t tell you how much money it cost me to replace everything. It was an absolute logistical nightmare,” he began.

“And because my children’s father lives in England, I couldn’t get them to see their father again for four or five months because this damn dog ate their passports. I just couldn’t look at him. He ruined my life,” she said.

The comments prompted a backlash from British animal rights organization PETA. “PETA is begging the singer not to have another puppy. We are sending Lily a mechanical toy dog that requires none of the 24-hour care that a real puppy requires,” the publication said.

Through X, her name was raised to the most talked about topics. Many people reacted negatively to her statements.
