OJ Simpson’s remains have been turned into jewelry. The family of the former NFL player and star turned his ashes into luxury accessories a few months after his cremation. Simpson, who had been battling prostate cancer, died at the age of 76 in early April in Las Vegas.

The announcement that the ashes would be transformed into jewelry was made by the family’s lawyer, Malcolm LaVergne. There are four pieces that are now in the possession of four (Arnelle, Jason, Sidney and Justin Simpson) of Simpson’s six children. He did not say what types of jewelry the heirs chose, but said that the costs of cremation, jewelry and death certificates did not reach US$4,500 (around R$25,000).

OJ Simpson had three children with his first wife, Marguerite Whitley: Arnelle, Jason and Aaron. Later, he had two more children with Nicole Brown Simpson: Sydney and Justin. The former athlete was accused of murdering his second wife and her friend Ron Goldman in June 1994 out of jealousy and ended up being tried for 11 months in what became known as the Trial of the Century.

One of the greatest stars in NFL history, Simpson was acquitted of the double murder. A jury found him not guilty, although he was later found guilty in civil court and ordered to pay $33.5 million in restitution to the two families, a bill he never paid.
