Businesswoman Preta Gil spoke about her diagnosis of bowel cancer on the program Conversa Com Bial, presented by Pedro Bial and which will air this Tuesday (27).
The actress and daughter of Gilberto Gil says she felt a lot of guilt for having been diagnosed in this region, especially because of her weight, which was always publicly discussed. Today, she sees the situation in a better light.
“I was very guilty about my cancer, because it was in my intestine. The issue of my weight has always been a debate in my life, a debate that is even more public than my own. But when the public debate began, I started to acquire some paranoia and some questions for myself,” he said.
Preta also said that she blamed herself for a while for not taking care of her diet as she should have. Nowadays, she says that she takes good care of herself and that she is not just a standard woman, but a much healthier person.
“I blamed myself a lot for not managing my diet properly throughout my life. Thank God there are therapists in the world. My doctors said ‘don’t blame yourself, we work with extremely healthy people here who have the same tumor as you’. We can love ourselves the way we are, but we have to understand if this body is healthy. Today I am healthy, I take care of myself, and I am outside the norm, I am not a thin woman”, she said.
In the interview, Preta Gil also talks about growing up in the Gil family; about having Gal Costa as her godmother and what the experience of being a grandmother for the first time has been like.
Conversa com Bial airs at 11:30 pm on GNT and at 1 am on Globo.
