He fought, but he didn’t succeed Stefanos Tsitsipas!

The Greek tennis player was defeated 1-3 sets (6-7, 6-4, 3-6, 5-7) by Thanasis Kokkinaki and was eliminated in the first round of the US Open, making an early exit from the final Grand Slam of the season.

Thus, the Greek-Australian tennis player took his… blood back from Tsitsipas after his defeat in the 2nd round of the 2021 Australian Open and in the next round he will duel with his winner Nuno Borges-Federico Coria.

The match:

Bad start from Tsitsipas, with his opponent breaking from the first game, taking advantage of four serious mistakes by the Greek tennis player, who improved afterwards and went from 4-2 to 5-4.

THE Kokkinakis remained (5-5 and 6-6) and despite the pressure of Tsitsipas who reduced from 6-1 to 6-5 he took the seventh, making 1-0 in the sets after about an hour of play.

Both broke their opponent’s serve at the start of the second set: first Tsitsipas and then the Greek-Australian, who took back his advantage.

The match was balanced at 4-4, the Greek tennis player “answered” his opponent in the sixth game (3-3), with Kokkinakis making his third love service game.

In the end, Tsitsipas managed to break for 5-4, he kept his own serve and with 6-4 tied at 1-1. Despite this, he continued to be behind, unable to make the break, even though he only had two opportunities in the third game, which he failed to take advantage of.

Kokkinakis erased another break point from the 26-year-old and with the score (4-3), he broke Tsitsipas’ serve for 5-3, easily taking the ninth game for 2-1.

With three games won in a row, Kokkinakis won the 4th set in the end, flying out of the US Open Tsitsipas.
