Malvino Salvador says he was surprised by his dismissal from Globo: ‘A shock. The bill at home is high’

Having been away from Globo for four years, Malvino Salvador admits that he was surprised by his dismissal after 16 years with the company. He remembers being worried about his finances as soon as he found out that his contract would not be renewed. “At first, it was a shock. I had four children to take care of and the bills here at home were high. But thank God I had managed to create a cushion,” says the actor who has always sought to have other sources of income, besides television.

A partner in a chain of jiu-jitsu academies, a barbershop and a hair transplant clinic, Malvino has a degree in Accounting and says he never thought about being an actor. “There are people who are born to be artists. In my case, I never imagined I would be an actor. I studied accounting and worked in finance and sales in the private sector.”

When he was hired by Globo (his first character was Tobias, in “Cabocla”), the actor fell in love with the profession, but always maintained his taste for business. “I see today that it was essential to have diversified my sources of income. Besides, it is something that gives me pleasure. It is something I like to do. It would not make sense to have spent so much time studying and working in this area and not apply it”, he says in an interview with the newspaper O Globo.

Malvino doesn’t hide his desire to return to TV. “If a good opportunity came up, I would definitely do it. I have a lot of affection for my career, I love doing soap operas, movies, theater and series. The format doesn’t matter. The most important thing is the quality of the character, if it has a plot, if it can develop something cool, if it has good conflicts. That’s what gives the actor pleasure, no matter the medium.”
