The geological, archaeological, historical and morphological interests of Milos are mentioned in a National Geographic tribute to the island. The famous magazine places special emphasis on the Ancient Theatre, the Catacombs, Aphrodite and the finds in Phylakope, noting that the island has “all the colors of the rainbow”.

“All along the rocky coastline, you’ll see all the different colors. Green is bentonite, red is iron oxide, blue is amethyst,” writes Elizabeth Warkentin and adds:

“Milos offers amazing landscapes similar to Santorini but without the crowds. Known for its volcanic history, it has a palette of colorful rocks and over 70 pristine beaches, such as Sarakiniko, Kleftiko, Gerakas, Fyriplaka and Ammoudaraki.

The tribute also describes the charming villages of the island, such as Adamantas, Plaka, Klima, Mandrakia and Pollonia, “where visitors can explore traditional Greek culture”.

Finally, the tribute states that Milos is “an ideal destination for travelers looking for a more peaceful and authentic Greek island experience”.
