Golden Lion to the Spanish director for “The Room Next Door” – The absent Nicole Kidman won the award for Best Actress
The Venice Film Festival – the world’s oldest film festival – closed last night with the award ceremony.
The Golden Lion went to the Spaniard Pedro Almodovar (Pedro Almodovar), offering him at the age of 74 one of the most valuable awards of his great career for his first American film.
In the film “The Room Next Door”, Almodovar directs the British actress Tilda Swinton and the American Julianne Moore, in a story of assisted suicide.
The absent Nicole Kidman won the award for Best Actress – Her moving message
Australian-American Nicole Kidman won Best Actress for Babygirl, a coming-of-age romance thriller.
Kidman was absent from the award ceremony as she mourns the death of her mother, shortly after arriving in Venice for the film’s screening.
The director of the film read a message from the 57-year-old actress on stage: “I learned shortly after my arrival in Venice of the death of my mother Janelle Kidman. I’m in shock and I need to be with my family. This award is for her.”
