Several celebrities used social media to bid farewell to etiquette consultant Fabio Arruda, who died on Saturday at the age of 54. Born in Rio de Janeiro, he settled in São Paulo, where he became a media personality. On TV, he hosted programs and participated twice in the reality show A Fazenda (Record).
Arruda was found lying down at home by an employee, who called SAMU (Mobile Emergency Care Service). He had been discharged from Hospital 9 de Julho on Thursday (5), after being admitted as an emergency due to a blocked artery.
Her last posts on social media were celebrating her return home and asking people to take care of their health. “Life is really short and unpredictable,” she said. “Take care of yourself, get regular check-ups and take precautions. I know that not everyone can do this, but try to maintain a healthy diet and exercise as much as you can. This will help a lot. After the age of 40, take extra care.”
Arruda graduated from the University of Bridgeport in the United States and then lived in Madrid, Spain, “to learn more about his Spanish ancestry,” he said. It was during this time that he began to take an interest in the etiquette of the places where he lived.
He wrote five books, including “À Mesa com Fábio Arruda” and “Etiqueta sem Frescura”, in which he tried to demystify the rules of behavior in society. According to his website, he provided consultancy for more than 150 companies, including Visa, Bradesco, Banco do Brasil, Avon, Copacabana Palace, Hilton and Intercontinental, in addition to the now-defunct luxury goods store Daslu.
Cousin of Patrícia de Sabrit, he began to appear in the media in the 2000s, when the actress and socialite married Roberto Justus. He began to appear on TV shows such as Note e Anote (Record), Todo Seu (TV Gazeta), Pra Valer (Band) and Mais Você (Globo). In 2001, he hosted É Chic, on RedeTV!.
In 2009, he was part of the cast of the first edition of A Fazenda. He was eliminated in the fourth week of the reality show, but returned for a new confinement eight years later, in 2017, in the special edition A Fazenda: Nova Chance, with contestants who had already participated in other programs of the same type. This time, he was the 3rd participant to leave the competition.
In the last years of his life, he remained active on social media and hosted the podcast Pod Arruda, in which he spoke about “refinement and knowledge” with celebrity guests.
Dado Dolabella, who won the first edition of A Fazenda, was one of those who publicly mourned the death. “What sad news! It took me by surprise! Thank you for the great exchanges in life and also for your friendship. Continue in the strength of light my friend Fabio Arrudo, until one day…”
Current presenter of the reality show, Adriane Galisteu, spoke out. “My God, Fábio, how sad!”, she wrote in the comment on his last post on Instagram. She also posted a photo of the presenter with a broken heart on her Stories.
Journalist and presenter Leda Nagle gave her testimony on social media. “Today I lost a great friend,” she said. “A person who was happy with life, intelligent, with an extraordinary sense of humor, who enjoyed life and living. It’s so sad. A huge loss!”
Andrea Nobrega, in turn, wrote: “Life really is a breath of fresh air! I recorded with Fabio the other day, I can’t believe it! He was always very polite and treated everyone well. Rest in peace, my dear. My condolences to your family and friends.”
Singer Roberta Miranda said she was in disbelief, while Nany People posted: “Dear friend Fábio Arruda, thank you for so much! Affection, partnership, love, learning… I still can’t believe it…”.
