The Ministry of Culture announces the completion of the Greek nomination selection committee for the participation in the OSCAR International Feature Film Awards process, with two new members, to replace those who resigned. The Committee is composed as follows:

  • Evan Spiliotopoulos, (Chairman of the Committee), Los Angeles, has worked with the biggest Hollywood studios (Disney, 20ieth Centuy Fox, Paramount, Universal etc). Screenwriter (of Hollywood blockbuster films, such as THE PENTAFORM AND THE MONSTER, HERCULES, CHARLIE’S ANGELS, etc., with 25 years of experience in the American Hollywood film industry. Member of the Writers Guild of America, voting Member of the European EFA Film Academy.
  • Dimitris Danikas, (Vice President of the Committee), Athens, film critic, journalist (STEP / NEW / FIRST TOPIC), with at least 35 years of experience in the field of film criticism.
  • Christina Lazaridis, screenwriter, (Oscar nominee), New York, Voting & Lifetime Member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (which awards the Oscars where we will submit our national entry), Member of the Writers Guild of America, Voting Member of European Academy of Cinema, teaches screenwriting at COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY in New York and has taught screenwriting at many other universities in the USA, in seminars in Greece, Mexico, etc.
  • Panagiotis Rappasanimation director, Athens, has worked for the biggest Hollywood studios, for AMBLN ENTERTAINMENT LONDON (Steven Spielberg), for BIOSKOP FILM Munich, one of the biggest German production companies, etc., with many awards to his credit. The only living in Greece voting & lifetime Member of the American Film Academy (which awards the Oscars where we will submit our national participation), voting Member of the European Film Academy – European Film Academy EFA.
  • Spyros N. Taravirasdirector, producer, screenwriter, Athens – Munich, Voting Member of the European Film Academy EFA and is the only voting Member of the German Film Academy EFA in Greece. He has been an Associate Professor at the Department of Directing & Screenwriting at the University of Television & Cinema and an elected Member of its Senate in Munich.
  • Nikos Platyrachosmusician, composer of soundtracks for many foreign and Greek award-winning films with a long international career and studies in Greece and Germany. He has written the music for over 30 Greek and European films and has won awards at Greek and international film festivals.
  • Anastasios MichosDirector of Photography, has worked on major productions for all the major Hollywood studios and with huge casts. Voting & Life Member of the American Motion Picture Academy for the Oscars of the AMPAS Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences in Los Angeles, Member of one of the most important Associations of the American film industry, the American Society of Cinematographers (ASC), voting member of the European Academy of Motion Pictures EFA, Member of the Greek Society of Cinematographers GSC (Greek Society of Cinematographers).
