Roberts bragged about the “Pretty Woman” star’s fame surpassing his own, claiming he was the one who went to New York talent agency William Morris in 1985 and asked: “Which of you will sign a contract with my sister Julia?”

“And I’m so proud that everyone knows I was first. I was the first to win Golden Globe and Oscar nominations, so I’m proud of that.”he said in his interview.

Six years later, Roberts walked back his bold statement, writing in his memoirs: “I hope Julia will accept this public apology. It was stupid of me to say that.”

Born the eldest of four siblings, Roberts reveals in the book how his years of drug addiction destroyed his relationship with his younger sisters Julia Roberts, an actress, Lisa Roberts Gillan, a Manhattan maid, and his half-sister Nancy Motes, who died in 2014.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if they were suffering from post-traumatic stress since it was dangerous to be around me,” Roberts said. “Lisa and Julia needed love and protection – instead they had fear and uncertainty” states.

“Of course, the biggest consequence of using drugs was that I lost Emma” he adds, referring to losing custody of his daughter, American Horror Story star Emma Roberts, from his relationship with ex-wife Kelly Cunningham.
