Another big name has joined the list of artists supporting Kamala Harris for the US presidency. In a video published on his social networks on Thursday (3), Bruce Springsteen declared his vote for the Democratic candidate.
“Friends, fans and the press have been asking me who I support in this presidential election. Although my opinion matters no more or less than that of any other citizen, here is my answer: I support Kamala Harris for president and Tim Waltz for vice president. president”, said the rock star.
“I think since the Civil War [1861-1865] this country has not been as divided politically, spiritually and emotionally as it is now. It doesn’t have to be this way”, lamented the author of “Born in The USA”.
In declaring his vote for Kamala, he joins artists such as Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Ariana Grande, Stevie Wonder, Cardi B, Lizzo and John Legend, among many others.
“We are the most powerful country in the world, and not because of our enormous military or economic capacity, but because of our faith in freedom, in social justice, in equal opportunities, in the right to love whoever we want. That’s what makes America great”, continued Bruce, deconstructing Trump’s motto.
“Donald Trump is the most dangerous candidate I have seen in my life. His disdain for the Constitution, democracy and the concept of the peaceful transfer of power should disqualify him from the office of president”, criticized the singer. He then praised the Democratic ticket:
“Kamala and Tim are committed to a vision of a country that respects and includes everyone, regardless of class, religion, gender, race or sexual identity. They want an economy that benefits everyone, not just a few rich guys like me This is the vision of the country that I have been writing about for the last 55 years”, concluded the musician.
Bruce Springsteen, 75, is popular among a more conservative and patriotic audience. In 2024, he entered Forbes as the new billionaire in the artistic world. His fortune is valued at more than US$1.2 billion (about R$6.5 billion).
