The artist gave with her “Bridges” her own bright answer, proving the healing power of art…
A conflict in the Middle East that lasts decades. Which seems to have no end. An unanswered “why” within us upon hearing the number of souls lost. But also a “how much more” in the sad thought of what is expected to follow. In this dark landscape the Evanthia Reboutsika gave with her “Bridges” her own bright answer, proving the healing power of music, but also of art in general. The notes sprang from her violin on that autumn evening in October and came to touch the innermost parts of our psyche. Those who have longed deeply for a world of peace, justice and solidarity. With more humanity and hope.
Surrounded by 14 talented musicians and a multitude of instruments – especially the canon has a way of winning you over with its special sound – who traveled us to the depths of the East, the Evanthia Reboutsika she filled our evening with her compositions, as only she knows how to perform them: through her lively and immovable presence, which testifies to how much passion she has for what she serves.
Of course, the great “lady” of the violin may have been the star of the evening, but great voices were at her side to bring us the message of peace. The Israeli Yasmin Levi, the Palestinian Mira Awad and the Greek soprano Christina Poulitsi were on stage and performed lyrics that testify to a deep “plea”, a prayer, a plea for a ceasefire.
