Singer Anitta worried fans when she stated on social media that she currently lives in a house in Miami, which is in the path of Hurricane Milton.
With an image with a distressed expression, the Brazilian wrote: “This is me realizing that I have four different houses, but I ended up staying in Miami right when the hurricane arrives”, she said, in reference to her other residences: one in Los Angeles and others two in Rio de Janeiro.
One of the most powerful hurricanes ever recorded in the Atlantic Ocean, Milton advances through the Gulf of Mexico and is expected to hit the coast of Florida this Wednesday (9), causing millions of people to rush to escape the destruction.
According to the country’s National Hurricane Center (NHC), Milton “has the potential to be one of the most destructive hurricanes ever recorded in west-central Florida.”
Authorities asked about 5.5 million Tampa-area residents to leave their homes — in some cases, residents were ordered to evacuate. The location was impacted by Hurricane Helene just over a week ago.
According to The New York Times, the state’s highways are full of people trying to escape and there is a lack of fuel in the region.
Meteorologists expect the area to receive 127 to 250 millimeters of rain, which could exceed the average for the entire month in the region and cause flooding. More than 2,000 flights were canceled, and although the hurricane is expected to make landfall this Wednesday, dangerous winds and heavy rain were expected to begin affecting Florida as early as Tuesday night.
