David Michaud will direct the biography of the popular athlete
She appears unrecognizable Sidney Sweeney in a new post on social media, about the needs of her new role. The actress will play boxer Christy Martin in the David Michaud-directed biopic. Wanting to announce her new professional step to her fans, Sydney Sweeney made a post on her personal Instagram account.
She “uploaded” two snapshots, in which one would hardly recognize her. The actress posed in overalls and brown curly hair on set.
In the caption accompanying her post she wrote: “Well, the cats are out of the bag, thanks to some paparazzi hiding in the bushes, so here’s a little sample of the film I’m working on right now. Over the past few months, I have been “immersing myself” in preparation to bring to life the story of an incredible woman, a true champion who fought battles both inside and outside the ring. Her journey is a testament to resilience, strength and hope and I am honored to share her story with you. More to come soon.”
The title of the film is still unknown, nor are any further details about it.
Christy Martin is a legendary figure in the history of boxing and the first woman to “legalize” the sport in the USA. She is also a woman who experienced extreme abuse from her coach, mentor and husband, who in 2010 stabbed and shot her, while, according to her, he abused her for years, also addicting her to cocaine.
