Louis Tomlison, Liam Payne’s former One Direction bandmate, published a farewell letter to the singer, who died last Wednesday (17) at the age of 31. Louis mourned the death of his “brother” and said that his colleague was the most important part of the band.
“I’m completely devastated to be writing this, but yesterday I lost a brother. Liam was someone I looked up to every day, such a positive, funny and kind soul,” the singer wrote on social media.
Liam died at age 31 last Wednesday. He was found dead at the CasaSur hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He traveled to the country on the 4th to watch his former bandmate Niall perform.
In the publication, Louis praised his former colleague’s talent and other qualities: “I met Liam when he was 16 and I was 18, and I was instantly impressed by his voice, but, more importantly, as time went by, I had the chance to see the kind brother I’ve longed for all my life.”
“Liam was an incredible songwriter with a great sense of melody. We often talked about going back to the studio together to try and recreate the songwriting chemistry we had built in the band,” he continued.
The singer said that Liam was the most important member of One Direction and shaped the band’s craze of the 2010s. Harry Styles, Niall Horan and Zayn Malik spoke out in a letter on the band’s profile.
“In my opinion, Liam was the most vital part of One Direction. His experience from a young age, his perfect pitch, his stage presence, his gift for songwriting. The list goes on. Thank you for shaping us, Liam,” Louis said.
The Brit finished by dedicating a message to his friend: “I feel extremely lucky to have had you in my life, but I’m really struggling with the idea of ​​saying goodbye. I’m so grateful that we’ve become even closer since the band, talking for hours together phone, remembering the thousands of incredible memories we had together, something I thought I would have with you for life. I would love to share the stage with you again, but it wasn’t meant to be.”
He also said he will support Liam’s 7-year-old son. “Know that if Bear ever needs me, I’ll be the uncle he needs in his life and tell him stories about how amazing his dad was.”
