An increase of 188.8% was recorded in the number of visitors to the country’s museums in October last year, as well as an increase of 163.3% of free admission visitors and 220.7% of receipts.
In the decade 2021, there is an increase of 59.5% in museum visitors, 24.9% in free admission visitors and 137.4% in receipts, compared to the corresponding period of 2020, given the suspension of museums from March 14, 2020 to June 16, 2020 and gradually from November 1, 2020 to May 13, 2021, in implementation of measures to address the pandemic.
According to ELSTAT, at the archeological sites last October there was an increase of visitors by 145.5%, free visitors by 114.2% and receipts by 175.1%.
The ten-month period saw an increase of 82% in visitors, 33.2% in free admission visitors and 145.2% in receipts, given the suspension of the archaeological sites from March 14 to May 17, 2020 and again from November 7, 2020 to March 21, 2021, in implementation of measures to address the pandemic.
