‘It’s not cool to be the other one’, says Isadora Cruz about Roxelle from ‘Volta por Cima’

Roxelle from “Volta por Cima” (Globo) entered the life of Isadora Cruz, 26, like a hurricane. The blonde look of the cafeteria attendant from Vila Cambucá (a fictional neighborhood in the suburbs of Rio) is just the tip of the iceberg amidst the transformations that the actress is willing to make for a character. “The actor cannot accept being trapped in boxes”, he tells F5.

It is a universe opposite to that of the dreamer Candoca, protagonist of “Mar do Sertão” (2022), and also of the hard-working Rosa, of “Guerreiros do Sol”, a soap opera scheduled to air in 2025 on Globoplay. And that was precisely what made Isadora accept the invitation from author Claudia Souto and director André Câmara. “When they introduced me to this self-confident, confident, intense woman without fear of being judged, I wanted to be her”, she says.

In the 7pm episode, Roxelle has a romance with Chico, played by Amaury Lorenzo, who is Madá’s fiancé (Jéssica Ellen). “She’s in love with this man — and passion kind of makes people blind, right?”, says Isadora.

“It’s not cool to be someone else. In fact, she doesn’t even want to, and she keeps putting pressure on Chico to leave Madá. Look, it’s a complicated story that happens in real life,” he says. “I haven’t experienced that, and it’s a delicate and very personal situation.”

To compose the character, the actress traveled around the north zone and suburbs of Rio. He went to several places, such as the Madureira shopping mall (north of Rio) and even a funk party in the region. “I loved it. I liked it and until recently I attended samba circles, Baila Charme”, he says.

Despite having less time due to recording, she says she doesn’t want to give up her newly acquired habits. “I want to continue visiting this Rio universe, which is very new to me”, he says excitedly.
