#happytraveller: travel show by real travelers, every Sunday on SKAI
The Happy Traveler on SKAI is in Syria, on a special trip to a country that has been tested quite a bit in recent decades.
In the second part, on Sunday October 27, Eutychis leaves the capital Damascus and travels to the northern part of Syria.
First stop, the small town of Maaloula, built between impressive rocks, in which there are several churches and important monasteries.
There he visits the impressive gorge and crosses it to reach the Greek Orthodox monastery of Agia Thekla. He also sees an old luxury hotel that was destroyed in the war and meets people who speak the ancient language “Aramaic”.
Next, it’s on to the iconic Krak des Chevaliers, meaning “Fortress of the Knights”, which was built by the Crusaders 1,000 years ago and is one of the largest and best-preserved medieval castles in the Middle East.
Eutychis’ trek continues to the city of Homs, the country’s third largest city, where he sees the historic church of the Sacred Zone with its impressive catacombs.
He walks through the bustling market with traditional products and food and tries excellent Syrian sweets and street food.
Finally, he goes to see the part of the city that was completely destroyed in the war between 2011 and 2014.
A special journey of Happy Traveler, which offers different travel experiences, ends this Sunday at 17.40, on SKAI.
