He stars in the new series “Blackboards” and also in the show “My Beautiful Lady” which premieres on October 31 at the Pallas Theatre. THE Thodoris Katsafados this year he is really enjoying it – because last year he had a bit of a hard time – and he talks about everything to Panagiotis Vazaios and the Sozi that is being released.

-Are you anxious after so many years in the field about how the series you are participating in will go?

“Of course I’m worried about it. I always looked at the viewing figures, just like in the theater to have people come to see us. After all, we work for the world. I’ve been upset that some jobs didn’t go down well on TV. I had done a series that I loved very much. It was by Thodoris Petropoulos on Ant1, “To my good sweet cousin”.

I really liked the script, I worked with excellent colleagues, such as Christos Hatzipanagiotis, Maria Kavogianni and others. I don’t know why it didn’t go well. Maybe it played a role then that it had a reality show like “Survivor” opposite I think. That’s how this series went, it ended prematurely and I was very sad.”

-Have you ever played in an empty theater?

“Yes of course I’ve played in an empty theater and it’s a bad feeling. But I have also played in full theaters and I keep this in mind. Like in the show “The Crazy Cage” where every night for two years we had 1500 people, just like in Epidaurus with 12 thousand people. I am fed up with the public and I think they love me. What really moves me is that they approach me with love and talk to me.”

-What was your feeling when you played for the first time in Epidaurus?

“I felt very blessed to have experienced such a situation in Epidaurus. I have said many times that if for hundreds of reasons I shouldn’t be doing this job, what I lived in Epidaurus both during rehearsals and on the days of the performances is worth the trouble of being in this profession. To live what I live every time in Epidaurus. I felt like God was caressing me at that time.”

-Has acting ever saved your life, worked for you psychotherapeutically?

“My profession is psychotherapy for me. It is very important for me that for fifty years I have been in these texts and in these authors. They are the journeys of my soul. This work enriches my mental world.

Acting has only done me good and I am very happy that I chose this job by chance. I was at university and accidentally got into drama school. I had no idea what theater was. I was a village kid and my family had nothing to do with all of this.”

-Have you ever been saddened by the fact that you didn’t become a cheerleader?

“Not at all. I am not qualified to lead. This is another talent. I can’t make decisions and I’m responsible. At some point in my career, the opportunity came to me but I was afraid of the risk then. Those who have the combination of acting talent and leadership, such as Yannis Bezos, Spyros Papadopoulos, Eleni Radou, have achieved amazing success in everything they do. There are of course other cases where they have the talent to lead, but they don’t have the talent to play. I won’t tell you names!”

-If you had a magic wand, what would you change about your life?

“If only my wife hadn’t left!”

-Have you dealt with this loss?

“I deal with her all the time. As time goes by it is different but there is no better or worse. A loss is a loss. As we grow older, this is the curse that haunts us. That we lose loved ones. Relatives, friends, colleagues. This is the hardest thing in life”

– Is there a person who makes you draw strength today?

“My motivation for life is of course my daughter and my grandchild. I must be well to stand them. To be well, to play, to have a job all the time so that I can help them. My motive is holy, serious and very strong. That’s what keeps me going.”
