Actress and presenter Maria Gal is Super Nina’s godmother in the popular category of the Social Entrepreneur Award 2024. Led by Simony César, the startup created a tool that allows reporting sexual harassment in real time, in addition to offering psychosocial and legal support to victims and collect data for preventive actions.
The initiative is among the six finalists of the 20th edition of the competition promoted by Sheet and Schwab Foundation, which recognizes leaders in social innovation.
“We know that public transport needs to be a safe place for women, but we also know that a lot of harassment happens on buses. Women suffer from this every day. In fact, I have already been a victim of this type of harassment”, she says Maria Gal.
“A northeastern woman, daughter of a bus conductor, experienced this problem firsthand and studied the subject. She had an idea and created Super Nina, which is in the palm of more than 1 million people’s hands every day.”
Operating in Fortaleza (CE), the startup has already registered more than 3,000 complaints of harassment, with one in ten turning into a police investigation.
The actress released a video on Instagram in partnership with the newspaper’s profiles, asking for donations to the NGO through the MobilizAção platform, at Folha.com/plataformamobilizacao2024, where it is possible to learn about and support the work of this and other organizations.

The initiative that mobilizes the largest number of donors and the one that raises the most resources between October 11th and November 8th will be awarded on November 12th in a ceremony at the Theatro Municipal de São Paulo, when the nominees by the jury will also be announced.
For every R$1 donated, Ambev will donate another R$1, up to a limit of R$30,000, and will offer another R$30,000 distributed among the finalists who get the most donors. The proposal is to encourage the culture of donation in the country.
“We collect these complaints, both from victims and witnesses, process this data and pass it on to public and private authorities so that they can guide counteractions, on an emergency and mainly preventive basis”, explains Simony César, founder of the startup.
“We also train agents who are on the front line with these users, to welcome and direct them in awareness campaigns”, he adds.
Among the other finalists are Belterra Agroflorestas (startup that restores degraded lands with agroforestry systems), Trampay (fintech that offers digital accounts for delivery people) and Letrus (startup developed a school writing program based on artificial intelligence).
They also receive donations from Revolusolar (NGO that combats energy poverty with solar installations in favelas) and Ficam Sabendo (NGO that promotes public transparency).
