The fourth season of “Emily in Paris” has barely debuted in the Netflix catalog and is already among the most watched in the world. However, success is no guarantee of tranquility behind the scenes. Actor Lucas Bravo, interpreter of French chef Gabriel, didn’t really like the direction his character’s plot took in the production.

After getting involved with the protagonist Emily, played by Lily Collins, in the first season, Gabriel lost ground in the following years. In this fourth season, for example, while the marketing executive settles in the Italian capital, Rome, he is left desolate in Paris. “I would like him to regain some style,” said the actor in a recent interview with Le Figaro.

Bravo acknowledged that the series is good entertainment, but complained about Gabriel and Emily’s storyline. “I don’t want to be part of a mechanism that tends to underestimate the intelligence of spectators”, he commented, without hiding his lack of motivation to work. In an interview with IndieWire, the actor hinted that he may not be in the fifth season and mentioned that his contract is about to end.

He then said: “I would like to see Gabriel return to being fun, irreverent, playful and full of life. Three seasons of playing a melancholic, sad, depressed and lost character is no longer fun.” Bravo also commented that he feels a lot of love for the series and that his criticisms are motivated by the desire to see it at its best.

Bravo’s statements were not well accepted by the cast. According to US Weekly, among the actors’ comments, if he returns for the fifth season, the atmosphere will be tense on the recording sets. In addition to Lily Collins and Lucas Bravo, “Emily in Paris” features Ashley Park, Lucien Laviscount, Camille Razat, Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu and Eugenio Franceschini in the cast. The series was renewed for a fifth season in September.
