The name chosen by Neymar and Bruna Biancardi for their daughter, Mavie, became fashionable among babies born in 2024. This also happened with the name of Endrick, a football player who gained popularity this year after being signed by Real Madrid.
“Mavie” received more than 300 registrations on Babycenter, a pregnancy and parenting support platform. The name of French origin debuted in the ranking in 45th position of most popular female names. The previous year, fewer than five people had registered.
When she was still pregnant, Biancardi revealed the baby’s name and explained its meaning. Mavie is an adaptation of the expression “my life” in French. “Ma” means “mine” and “vie” means “life”.
Endrick also debuted on the list, appearing in 85th place. Of German origin, it can be translated into Portuguese as Henrique. The name has become popular with the rise of the 18-year-old athlete since last year. In 2024, he said goodbye to Palmeiras and started playing for Real Madrid, and his name gained 43% growth in the rankings.
Another internet personality, Ravi, the name of Viih Tube and Eliezer’s son, secured second place on the list of names for boys. Born on November 11th, the baby has one of the most popular names at the moment, second only to “Miguel”.
On the other hand, the names of Virginia Fonseca and Zé Felipe’s daughters lost space among the new babies. In 2023, Maria Alice entered the Top 5 and Maria Flor debuted in 63rd place. This year, the names fell, respectively, 15 and 10 positions. José Leonardo, the new youngest, did not make the list.
The ranking also showed that soap operas continue to be major influences on Brazilian mothers and fathers. Compared to last year, the female names that rose the most were Serena (71st) and Luna (18th), two of the characters from “Alma Gêmea”. The 2005 soap opera was rerun on Globo this year.
More than 250,000 names registered on Babycenter between January 1st and October 31st were analyzed.
