Player Endrick, just 18 years old, was taken by surprise when he found out that his name was in fashion and on people’s lips. It debuted on the list of the most popular names for new births in Brazil this year.
Just like Mavie, the name of Neymar’s youngest daughter, Endrick entered the list of the most baptized names in Brazil. He appeared in 85th place. Of German origin, it can be translated into Portuguese as Henrique.
The name became popular, of course, with the rise of the 18-year-old athlete. In 2024, he said goodbye to Palmeiras and started playing for Real Madrid, and his name gained 43% growth in the ranking, entering the top 5.
In an exclusive conversation with the F5Endrick found it funny that his name became a buzzword for new babies and was considered by parents. For him, this is a reference to continue with his work in football.
“I imagined that among the people of Palmeiras they would baptize some with my name, but I’m even happier to know that throughout the country they chose my name for their children”, he commented with a laugh.
“It’s an honor, a great affection. Each new Endrick is a new tribute and I hope to continue justifying all of this”, concluded the player.
Ravi, the name of Viih Tube and Eliezer’s son, secured second place on the list of names for boys. Born on November 11th, the baby has one of the most popular names at the moment, second only to “Miguel”.
On the other hand, the names of Virginia Fonseca and Zé Felipe’s daughters lost space among the new babies. In 2023, Maria Alice entered the Top 5 and Maria Flor debuted in 63rd place. This year, the names fell, respectively, 15 and 10 positions. José Leonardo, the new youngest, did not make the list.
The ranking also showed that soap operas continue to be major influences on Brazilian mothers and fathers. Compared to last year, the female names that rose the most were Serena (71st) and Luna (18th), two of the characters from “Alma Gêmea”. The 2005 soap opera was rerun on Globo this year.
More than 250,000 names registered on Babycenter between January 1st and October 31st were analyzed.
