Kate Moss says she was forced to pose topless at age 15

Kate Moss, 50, spoke for the first time about a traumatic situation she suffered at the age of 15, when she was already working as a model.

In an interview with a fashion podcast, she reported that she was forced to pose half-naked for a magazine. “I cried a lot, I didn’t want to do that”, said the top.

At the time, she was doing a photo shoot for The Face magazine with British photographer Corinne Day. “I started working very early and then came the topless photos. I have a little spot on my right breast that bothered me a lot, I cried,” she said. Kate on the podcast “Fashion Neurosis with Bella Freud”.

“I never wanted to show my breasts, I hated it, I was ashamed. But the photographer said: ‘If you don’t do it, I won’t call you for the next job’. So I had to overcome that”, said the top model, who was discovered by the owner of an agency at the age of 14.

“As a model, your body no longer belongs to you, it becomes an instrument for someone else’s imagination,” Kate continued. She also recalled that her younger brother was ridiculed at school because she posed half-naked.

“I was still at school and I posed with my breasts exposed in a magazine. Fortunately, that magazine didn’t sell in Croydon,” she says of her hometown in the United Kingdom. “I don’t think anyone saw it, but they found out and made fun of my brother a lot,” he said.

Kate also said that she asked her hairdresser, Drew Jarrett, to turn his back while she took the photos. “I made Drew turn his back because he’s straight and I was embarrassed,” he says. “After that rehearsal, I cried a lot, I really didn’t want to do that.”
