There are, in total, 25 categories, in areas such as television, cinema, music, celebrities, internet and much more. Voting is open until December 18th. The result will be announced the following day, in a live broadcast with the participation of the website’s columnists Gabriel Vaquer, Thiago Stivaletti and Rosana Hermann. The mediation will be carried out by the deputy editor, Vitor Moreno.
This year, instead of one category for best actor and another for best actress, both will compete in the best performance in a series/miniseries category. And, of course, which was the best production in streaming.
Actor Alexandre Rodrigues ranked among the five finalists in the category for his performance in “City of God: A Luta Não Para”, by Max. Performer of the protagonist Buscapé, who begins the story in the same way as in the film “City of God” , he continues as the narrator of events within a community. The series, by the way, also received praise for the plot that follows the lives of residents of a Rio community devastated by the war between drug dealers, corrupt police officers and militiamen.
Another nominee for best series or miniseries is “Justiça 2”, from Globoplay. Inspired by “True Detective”, the production focuses on four plots and each episode has a character as protagonist and an antagonist, who intertwine, as well as the past and the present.
One of the stories is about Carolina, a young woman who has been abused for years by her uncle, Jayme (Murilo Benício), and decides to report him. The person who plays this protagonist is Alice Wegmann, who competes in the best performance category. For the actress, the character touched on intimate, private and feminine issues, in addition to being a story of many Brazilian women.
Bruna Marquezine is Bia, the protagonist of “Amor da Minha Vida”, on Disney+ and is running for the award for best performance in a series. The plot follows the trajectory of an actress without much success who lives in an existential crisis. She also seeks a balance between her desire to find great love and her desire to be an independent woman.
“Amor da Minha Vida” competes for the trophy for best series and miniseries and is a production aimed at generation Z, those born in a digital world. Even though it talks about adultery, professional crisis, doubts about sexuality and relationships with parents, it is a light and fun plot.
Another finalist for best performance by an actor is Eduardo Sterblicht in “Os Others” (Globoplay) as former police officer Sérgio, who becomes a militia member and causes fear among condominium neighbors in the first year of the series. In this second year of production, he becomes a councilor and commits even more frauds and crimes. He places himself above institutions.
Gabriel Leone is the protagonist of “Senna” (Netflix), a production that tells the story of Ayrton Senna, three-time Formula 1 world champion, who died in 1994, and became one of Brazil’s greatest sporting icons. The series shows the driver’s entire trajectory of overcoming, disagreements, joys and sadness and is one of the most anticipated works on streaming in 2024. Leone shines in the main role and proves that he was not chosen by Senna’s family for nothing to represent the pilot.
“Pra Semper Paquitas”, from Globoplay, competes for the Prize F5 best series. The documentary exposes the trajectory of Xuxa Meneghel’s stage assistants and addresses the aesthetic pressure they were subjected to at the time. The production also talks about the racism, sexism and homophobia that some of them suffered.
