Texas: Movie Chaos – Viewer Releases Real Bat at Batman Movie Screening

by

A live bat caused chaos during the screening of the movie “The Batman” in Texas, USA, when it was released by a viewer as a prank, the cinema manager confirmed.

The screening of the new film, starring Robert Pattinson as the DC Comics hero of the same name at the Moviehouse & Eatery by Cinepolis in Austin turned into a live show when one of the spectators brought the bat into the movie theater.

Anelaise Hollyk, Cinépolis’s marketing and communications director, confirmed in a statement that the bat’s presence was the result of a hoax.

“Unfortunately a spectator tried to make a joke in one of our theaters,” Hollyok said in a statement broadcast on NBC News. “We immediately contacted a local animal control service and they monitored the situation to ensure the safety of spectators, workers and the bat,” he explained.

Viewers videotaped the bat flying over the screen and fleeing with moviegoers stalking it.

“I will turn off all these lights and try to lead her to a lighted area,” an employee said in one of the videos. “If you feel uncomfortable in the dark with a bat, please walk away now,” he is heard to say.

Mark Slot, director of the Austin Animal Care Center, said the hoax was particularly dangerous, as rabies cases have been confirmed in the area.

“Bats have tiny teeth, so one may not even know they have been bitten. “We want people to understand that rage is not funny,” he said. “Anyone who finds a bat on the ground should not catch it, they should call the local animal control service,” he said.
