Informed of the loss of Dimitris Imellos, the Minister of Culture Lina Mendoni made the following statement:

It was with great sadness that I learned of the completely premature loss of Dimitris Imellos.

Dimitris Imellos was one of the most talented and accomplished actors of his generation. He made the most of his solid theatrical equipment, to give us unique performances in every role he played. Undeniable witness to his talent, but also to the painstaking friction in the roles he faced, their origin from a very wide spectrum, from the classical repertoire to the contemporary repertoire. But also his selective passages from the cinema and the big screen, as well as his collaboration with our biggest stages and directors.

His talent shone early, as he had the completely just honor of being the first recipient of the coveted “Horn Award”. The magnitude of his loss is, unfortunately, compounded even more by the fact that he left at his most creative and mature age and at the height of his career on the stage. His loss deprives Art of a devoted servant, who still had much to give.

To his family, his colleagues and his many friends, I offer my most sincere condolences.”
