Meghan Markle’s father says he’ll be ‘more than happy’ to testify against her

Meghan Markle, 40, may have her own father testifying against her in US court. Thomas Markle, 77, said in an interview with YouTube channel Remarkable Friendship that he will side with his eldest daughter, Samantha Markle, 57, in the lawsuit she is bringing against the wife of Prince Harry, 37.

Samantha filed a lawsuit for considering that her famous sister made “false and malicious statements” about her own family in an interview with Oprah Winfrey, 68. At the time, her lines that gained the most repercussion concerned her husband’s family.

“I would be more than happy [em testemunhar contra Meghan]”, her father stated. “I’ve been trying for almost four years to see my daughter and her red-haired husband in a courtroom face to face…”

According to the website of the New York Post’s Page Six column, Samantha is asking for US$ 75,000 (about R$ 384,000) for moral damages, in addition to court costs and attorney fees. She maintains that Meghan lied when she said she was an only child and also about when they last saw each other.

Thomas said he believes the eldest daughter will win the lawsuit. “It amazes me that they go to Oprah Winfrey for hours and sit there exposing things they shouldn’t be exposing to anyone and I think it’s so disrespectful to royalty,” he commented. “I’m basically on the queen’s team. And I have great respect for all royals.”

For her father, Meghan must accept an agreement to end the process. “There are so many obvious lies that are immediately objectionable that I can’t imagine Meghan going to court with this,” she said. “She can’t defend the things she said.”

Meghan has not yet commented on her father’s interview. Earlier this month, her rep said in a statement to TMZ that the lawsuit was “baseless” and “absurd.” “It’s just a continuation of a pattern of disturbing behavior,” the text read. “We’ll give him the minimum attention he needs, which is all he deserves.”
