A very special musical tribute to the course of our Athens over time, entitled “Athens and Athens again” will have the opportunity to enjoy, with free entry, the visitors of the Christmas Village of the Attica Region in the Field of Areos, on Sunday, December 22 at 12.00

Five talented performers, o Yannis Bezosh Tanya Trypih Violetta Ikarih Eleni Karakasi and the Babis Velissarios, with their unique voices and interpretive power, they bring to life the history of Athens through songs loved by generations of Greeks.

A thematic concert, which celebrates the unsurpassed beauty, history and culture of Athens, through the rich repertoire of urban song from the interwar era to today, with the signature of the greatest Greek composers.

This musical journey is one of the six themed concerts offered by the Attica Region in the Christmas Village. On Sunday, December 29, there will be a tribute to songs by great composers on the theme of the child, with Yiannis Zouganelis, Rena Morphy, Kostas Thomaidis, Niki Grana and Yannis Dionysiouwhile on Monday, December 30, the thematic concerts conclude with a tribute to Dimitris Mitropanos, with the Peggy Zenahim Babi Stoka and him Costas Triantafyllidis.

Christmas with humanity and sensitivity

On the same day, at 18.00, the center of Athens is filled with humanity, solidarity, love and hope – the most precious decorations of the holidays – with the theatrical performance “Handmade Christmas: This year we celebrate with what we have”.

On his main stage Christmas Village of the Regiona tender Christmas story brought to life by the Red Cross Welfare Volunteers Mobile Theater Team. The aim is to raise awareness of contemporary social problems, such as immigration, exploitation of the environment and animal abuse. Christmas songs are performed by the “St. Spyridon” Children’s and Youth Choir of Corfu, under the direction of maestro Christina Kalliaridou.

One hour earlier, at 17.00, the two mini stages of the Village are filled with melody, warmth and a festive atmosphere through favorite Christmas tunes performed by talented saxophonists.

This year we live a magical Christmas in the center of Athens!

The Christmas Village that the Region of Attica has set up in the Field of Areos is the new, ultimate festive landmark of Athens, offering a variety of activities, completely free of charge.

The Village operates on weekdays from 16:30 to 22:00 and on weekends from 10:00 to 22:00, inviting young and old to enjoy the magic of the holidays in the largest urban park of Attica, the Field of Areos , which has now been aesthetically and functionally upgraded – through the coordinated actions of the Regional Governor of Attica, Nikos Hardalias – forming a truly open, public space, ready to host a variety of activities with absolute accessibility and high security.

Among the surprises that await visitors, the state-of-the-art ice rink stands out – the best and largest that has been set up in Greece – the huge carousels that will provide moments of play and carelessness, a large tasting corner with traditional drinks and dishes, as well as forty wooden houses, where the visitor will be able to buy handmade creations, gift items and Christmas ornaments.

Multifaceted and extremely interesting are also the educational activities for the young visitors to the Areos Field offered – all free of charge – with the support of the Region’s partners in the Christmas Village initiative: Protergia as Major Sponsor, COSMOTE and EYDAP as sponsors and MAD as communication sponsor.
