Mariah Carey’s holiday tune breaks one record after another and as the releases show it’s on its way to becoming the #1 song of all time
Mariah Carey’s holiday tune may go down as the greatest song of all time.
The “All I Want for Christmas Is You” was released in 1994, but finally reached the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 2017 after online streaming numbers factored into the chart success.
It reached No.1 in 2019 and every year since, the festive hit returns as the holidays approach and spends several weeks at the top spot.
This week the song completed its 17th week at No. 1 and is closing in on the 19-week record held by both Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus’ “Old Town Road” and Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy).”
Mariah Carey’s Christmas song may set the record this year, and by next year, she’s sure to break it.
In pure numbers, the “All I Want for Christmas Is You” will become the best-selling song in Billboard history, according to THR. And every year Carey knows how to make the most of the Christmas season, from her Christmas tour to TV specials to product promotions. An epic Christmas jam was even released, but it also appeared in Fortnite.
A giant blue iceberg was spotted in the middle of the Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 1 map, and none other than the popular singer came out of it.
Her debut “Christmas Queen» in Fortnite happened right on the holidays.
When Mariah Carey dressed as Santa came out of the iceberg she sang “All I Want For Christmas Is You” and danced.
The iceberg is part of Fortnite’s winter event, Winterfest 2024.
