Jameela Jamil, 38, used social media to vent about the excessive demand for thinness in the film industry. The actress, who played the villain Titania in the series “She-Hulk: Defender of Heroes”, released on Disney+, retrieved a photo from when she was 24 years old and recalled that, at the time, she was facing an eating disorder.
“I was at the height of my anorexia, pretending to eat chocolate, pretending to be happy, pretending I wasn’t on the verge of fainting,” he wrote in the caption. Jameela also shared a current photo, in which she appears in a swimsuit.
She said that she currently leads a more pleasurable, fun and happy life. And he also highlighted the pride he feels in his body. “The curves will come back. I’m not messing with my brain, my heart, my bone density or my metabolism to follow a trend. You can’t live stuck in an eternal cycle,” he added.
The actress continued to criticize the beauty standards imposed by the artistic world. “The number of people in my industry who simply accept going from thin to super-thin in order to achieve the obedient, fragile physique required to fit sample sizes has been difficult to watch,” she said.
Jameela, who was part of the cast of productions such as “The Good Place” and “Love at First Sight”, also condemned the use of medications, such as Ozempic, to lose weight. She emphasized that she no longer intends to try to fit into standards to continue in the artistic world. “I’d rather leave the industry than be dragged back to that hell,” he declared.
