Putting them on the scale though for an actor to do this job he sure loves it. And the George Papageorgiou he didn’t go in unprepared. As the son of Philaretis Komnenos, he knew beforehand exactly what the area was like and what awaited him. Did things really come easier in his career because of his mother?

-There is a lot of competition this year, are you keeping track of the ratings for the series?

“At one point when I first started doing television, I found myself caring about ratings. Then I realized that it’s so complex how a series will go on television, because it depends on who the competitor is, what time it will be playing, so I realized that I can’t do anything. It’s very rarely about an actor how a series goes.

It is an ensemble work that starts with the script, goes to the actors, reaches the direction and from there other things play a role. Of course we’re happy when a show does well, but the point is, if you want my opinion, it’s not the actor’s job to worry about ratings. The actor has to be stressed to do his job well, beyond that I can’t compete with a football game or a ‘Survivor’.

– Did being in the second season of a series stress you out?

“No because it’s a job done from scratch. It’s not like we joined an existing group. The only team that existed was the script, the director and the crew. All the rest were from scratch. We are lucky for that because we entered a well-tuned group and that made it easier for us.

The guys who were last year started it all over and had a bit more difficulty. We entered a framework that was more ready to welcome this story. However, it is a job with great demands and I didn’t know that I had to do such intensive preparation for a role. Italian lessons, riding lessons, etc.’

– How do you manage the publicity, because in recent years you have entered our homes dynamically…

“To the extent that it happens with a polite approach either on the street, or in the supermarket, or after a show, it is understood that it is pleasant. When that can go beyond the dugout I feel uncomfortable, as any human would.”

-Has an incident happened to you that caused you embarrassment?

“I’ve had the chance in the summer to go to the hospital for an issue I was dealing with and once they found out who I was, they came straight to take pictures. It was a little uncomfortable, because I was a little sick. I was also at the beach after walking for half an hour and as soon as I sat down sweating to take a dip, a bather came with her cell phone, where she had called her sister in America on a video call to show me to her. Suddenly I found myself talking to an unknown woman and her sister on the phone. I couldn’t say no (laughs)”.

-Has the fact that you have your mother Filareti Komnenou behind you, who has enormous experience, helped you more?

“No, I wouldn’t say that. My mother’s name didn’t open doors for me, but it didn’t close doors either. My mother is a very good actress, she is not an actor. He’s not even a fan. So no producer will hire you because you’re the son of an actress.”
