Sometimes, the best stories on the small screen are… drawn from life, even if the scene involves a “romantic” glass of milk.

Yes, milk.

This is the scene of the romantic thriller Baby girlin which Harris Dickinson’s character puts her character Nicole Kidman to drink a glass of milk in a bar while the two exchange glances – fire.

The director of the film Halina Reijn she says that this spicy experience has happened to her in real life.

In the bar scene, Samuel (Dickinson), who is much younger than Romy (Kidman) and her lover, orders her a glass of milk from across the street. When she drinks it, Samuel tells her “good girl” as she leaves the bar.

“Milk is, of course, archetypal,” Reijn says in an interview with IndieWire. “We’ve seen it in other movies. It is a symbol of the animal side of ourselves. It has happened to me.”

Reijn went on to describe her own encounter. She said it happened to her in Belgium years ago when she had gone to a bar alone and met a “young Belgian actor”, whom she did not name but said was famous and “at least 15 years younger than me”.

“He ordered me a glass of milk. I thought it was an incredible, warm thing, and so brave, and so I wanted to reward him by drinking it whole, and I did,” he said.

While Reijn admitted she felt nauseous drinking the milk, she felt it was one of the most exhilarating moments of her life.

“Babygirl” was released on Christmas Day and follows Romy, a high-powered CEO, who has a “hot” relationship with her much younger son, Samuel, who is an intern at the company.

The film stars Nicole Kidman, Harris Dickinson, Antonio Banderas and Esther Rose McGregor.
