A month before the death of Liam Payne (1993-2024), in Buenos Aires, Argentina, the English singer’s psychiatrist warned about the need for greater care with the former One Direction member’s health.

The professional listed rehabilitation sites and specialized doctors who could help you with your mental health. “Thank you for your understanding and I wish you the best on your continued journey toward mental health and well-being,” she wrote in a letter to Payne. The document was published by the website Page Six.

After the British singer’s death, tests identified traces of alcohol, cocaine and antidepressants in his system, indicating the use of these substances in the 72 hours prior to the incident. Also according to the document, the former psychiatrist recommended that Payne follow a treatment plan, highlighting the importance of taking medications “only as prescribed” and avoiding “drinking a lot” while using them.

The former One Direction singer was found dead at the CasaSur hotel, in the Palermo neighborhood of Buenos Aires. He died after falling from the third floor of the establishment, and five people were formally charged with the singer’s death.

Waiters Braian Paiz and Ezequiel Pereyra were accused of supplying drugs to Payne. Businessman Roger Nores was accused of abandoning a person followed by death and facilitating drugs, being prosecuted for manslaughter. Gilda Martín, the hotel manager present at the time of the singer’s death, and Esteban Grassi, responsible for the establishment, were also charged.
