One of the most striking moments of Fernanda Torres’ speech, 59, after winning the award for Best Drama Actress at the 2025 Golden Globes, was the quick appearance of an emotional Andrucha Waddington, with tears in her eyes. A renowned director in Brazilian cinema and TV, he has been the actress’s husband for 28 years and has accompanied the protagonist of “Still I’m Here”, by Walter Salles, in its promotion throughout Brazil outside of the production and does not hide his pride in his wife’s performance in the long.

Andrucha, 54, is the brother of television director Ricardo Waddington, who said goodbye to Globo in 2023, and Tatiana Junod, a film director in France. He has a stake in Conspiração Filmes, one of the main producers in the country. He is also the director of “Vitória”, a film that stars his mother-in-law Fernanda Montenegro. The production, which opens in theaters on March 13, tells the true story of an elderly woman who unmasks a gang of drug dealers and corrupt police officers in Rio de Janeiro.

Andrucha and Fernanda Torres have been together since 1997. At one point, they were separated, but they rekindled their relationship. Father of Joaquim and Antônio, the result of his marriage to the actress, the director also has two older children, from his first marriage to art director Kiti Duarte. Fernanda even got a kiss from her husband when she went to speak on stage after being announced by Viola Davis.
