Many are trying to get Hitchcock’s tried and tested recipe for psychological thrillers, but few seem to succeed. Of course, the new Netflix movie Windfall seems to be a successful case, already from the trailer.
In Windfall the story takes place in about two 24 hours
We have so much time to understand what is really going on and who are really to blame for the case. The story begins when a young couple visits their holiday home. However, before them, someone has broken into their house and is inside to rob whatever they find. Nothing is as it seems and when these three people meet, a game of power begins in which sometimes they win and sometimes they lose.
The characters remain anonymous throughout the film, which is common in this type of thriller. In the hours that pass, the situations do not take long to derail and thus everyone’s secrets are revealed. After all, this is a movie that wants to deceive us and make us unable to distinguish good from bad characters until the last moment.
This is a film that was shot in quarantine
The director of the film is Charlie McDowell, who seems to have made some very good choices in the cast. The protagonist is none other than his wife, Lily Collins. Next to her is Jesse Plemons, who is also an Oscar nominee this year, while the burglar is played by Jason Segel. All three actors accepted roles in which we are not used to them until today and this will probably work out for them.
We certainly do not know what to expect until the end of Windfall, but we have prepared for many upheavals throughout the film.
Windfall will be released on the Netflix platform on March 18.
