Accused for the crime of aggression and firearm shooting against former friend and musical partner Terell Ephron, known as A $ Ap Relli, the rapper A $ Ap Rocky was considered innocent by the jury last Tuesday (18).
The verdict was announced at the Criminal Justice Center Clara Shortridge Foll in Los Angeles. With the result, the musician jumped in the arms of his sister, mother and companion, singer Rihanna.
For social networks, the singer thanked. “Glory belongs to God and only to God! Grateful and honored for His mercy,” he posted.
The fight
Relli and Rocky met in their teens in New York, and found together the “Mob” A $ AP together, as the hip hop collectives are called. Over time, Rocky’s career fired, which would have removed his friends.
According to the prosecution, the two met on November 6, 2021, on the street, in front of a Hollywood hotel. They had discussed the day before.
The fight quickly evolved into the physical confrontation. At one point, Rocky would have pulled a gun and appointed against Relli, saying he was going to kill him. However, he kept the pistol and walked in the opposite direction.
Relli followed him and teased him, continuing the fight. Rocky, at that time, drew the gun again and fired several times. One of the bullets would have reached a grazing Relli on the finger.
Authorities say part of the fight was captured by street security cameras, including gunfire audio. However, there are no images of the pistol being fired.
The key points to understand the case are: the weapon, the police investigation and the injuries of Relli.
Rocky’s defense claims that the gun was a simulacrum, which would be used by the rapper to record clips. The pistol was never found.
Relli, in turn, took two days to report the incident to the police. The expertise did not find traces of ammunition or gunpowder at the fight site.
The rapper says he returned to the place hours after the fight and collected two projectile wraps, which he handed over to the police. Relli also did not go to the hospital to treat the injuries. Instead, he sought a doctor only when he returned to New York, days later.
If he were convicted of aggression and firearm shooting, Rocky could take up to 24 years in prison.
