The Happy Aegean and the capital of the Cyclades, Syros, visits the Happy Traveler at SKAI on Sunday, March 2 at 16.45.
In the first part, our travelers explore the beautiful Ermoupolis and Ano Syros. Its rich history, the aristocratic architecture of the buildings and the vivacity of the inhabitants make it one of the most beautiful cities in Greece.
Their day begins early in the morning watching the East and continues with walks in the picturesque port of Ermoupolis and the coastal road, while the city wakes up. Our travelers then head to Little Venice with the old houses on the wave. They reach the neighborhood with the impressive mansions of the old wealthy families of the island, the Vaporia district and visit Agios Nikolaos nearby. The tour continues with the amazing Apollo Theater, Miaouli Square and the island’s Mansion Town Hall.
Their next stop The Temple of the Resurrection and Ano Syros is in turn. Our travelers follow the path that leads to Pateli, Nihori and True and then disappear into the alleys of Ano Syros to explore its traditional character. Signs of interest is St. George the Catholic, the market and the Square of Mark Vamvakaris.
They learn the musical tradition of the island, they try the delicacies and the delicious local cuisine. They enjoy a wonderful night with traditional dances in the central square of Miaouli and thus ends the first part of their tour of this unique island.
