Even without an invitation to watch the Oscar awards ceremony, Valentina Herszage, 26, will be in Los Angeles next Sunday (2). She and much of the cast decided to cheer up close for the movie “I’m still here”. “Let’s see somewhere there and then the celebration will be in a bar with everyone,” he says F5.
The actress says that the three nominations of the film are already a victory for Brazilian cinema, but, without false modesty, believes in winning at least one statuette. “I believe, yes. We have good chances and I’m very confident, comments.” It would also be a sin to gain any category, right? … The movie is beautiful, amazing … oh … Let’s hope! “
Valentina is thrilled with the records of spectators (and box office) that production has been beating. “I don’t pretend custom (laughs),” he says. “This repercussion is very powerful.”
The feature, based on the book with the same title of Marcelo Rubens Paiva, tells the true story of his mother, Eunice Paiva (Fernanda Torres). She was married to Rubens Paiva (Selton Mello), deputy revoked in the military dictatorship. In 1971, he was arrested, tortured and killed. The two had five children, and Valentina plays Vera, the couple’s firstborn.
Walter Salles’s film is not the only production with the actress that addresses this dark period in Brazilian history. Also last year was launched “The Messenger”, by director Lúcia Murat, in which Valentina plays the protagonist, Vera, a young militant trapped and tortured.
His contact with the outer world is through Armando (Shi Menegat), a soldier who, looking for the girl’s parents – vowed by Floriano Peixoto and Georgette Fadel – to give news of his daughter, he wonders whether the armed forces is really his place.
“It was an incredible experience, because I recorded both films in a very close period about the military dictatorship, and these are works that added me as a human being attentive to the problems of society,” says Valentina. “Brazil has changed, the world has also changed with the far right by pressing on various governments and countries, and we artists respond with culture and art. That’s what interests me the most.”
