Millie Bobby Brown, now 21 years old, became famous as a child in “Stranger Things” (Netflix). Today, however, the actress has been suffering from criticism of her appearance – she classifies as bullying.
In an outburst published on her Instagram profile, she listed at least five American and British news sites publications that criticized her appearance.
“I started in the industry at the age of ten. I grew up in front of the media. And for some reason, people didn’t grow up with me,” Millie began, who is married to Jake Bongiovi, son of Jon Bon Jovi.
“They act like yours had to get stuck in time, as if I had to be the same way I was in season 1 of ‘Stranger Things’,” he continued. “And as I am not, I’m now a target.”
Then Millie listed British and American press articles that talk about her appearance. “One of the stories says, ‘Why are generation Z women like Millie Bobby Brown aging so bad?’ And I ask, ‘Why are adult big guys making fun of the appearance of a young woman?’ “She said.
“This is not journalism, it is bullying,” said the actress. “The fact that adult journalists are spending time by dissecting my face, my body and my choices is disturbing. The fact that many of these articles are written by women do everything much worse. We always talk about giving voice to young women, but when we get to the facts, it seems easier to destroy them in the name of clicks.”
“I refuse to apologize for growing up. I refuse to make me smaller to fit the unrealistic expectations of people who can’t handle a girl turning woman,” he continued.
“Let us be better. Not only for me, but for every young girl who deserves to grow without fear of being skilled just for existing,” he concluded.
