Comedian Rosie O’Donnel, famous for the Talk-Show The Rosie O’Donnell Show, left the United States for fear of Donald Trump government.
Rosie, who is a lesbian and LGBTQia+activist, posted a video on Tiktok on Tuesday (11) confirming fans’ suspicions: she has been living in Dublin, Ireland since January 15, five days before Trump’s inauguration.
In the video, the artist says she is happy in the European country. “It’s been wonderful, I must say. People are kind, friendly and hospitable. I’m very grateful.”
Dakota’s mother, 12, and four other adult children, she reported in the video that she is doing the process to obtain Irish citizenship, as her grandparents were born in the country.
“I never thought it would be immigrant. But it was the decision that I believed it would be better for me and my 12 -year -old daughter. I’m happy, Dakota is happy. I miss my other children, my friends and home. I’m trying to find a home in this beautiful country. When I am safe for all citizens to live in the US, then I will consider it back,” Rosie said.
The host is also the mother of Parker, 29, Chelsea, 27, Blake, 25 and Vivienne, 22, all adopted with ex-wife Michelle Rounds, who died in 2017. Throughout her 62 years, Rosie was a symbol in the struggle for the right to adoption by homosexual couples. She even had one of the children taken from her home through the state of Florida in 2001.
Still in the video, the presenter cited the setback in the rights of the LGBTQia+ population for the current government. “It’s devastating to know what is happening politically. The people are political, as we all know.”
“I apologize to my fans who were worried and missed me. I just felt that I needed to take care of my family, make some tough decisions and move on. Now that everything is based, I decided to make this video and tell everyone that we are fine,” he continued.
“Protect your sanity, that’s all I can say. Try not to dive into chaos, but I know this is almost impossible when you are in the middle of it. I think every day in the United States of America. I hope we can reverse things, I tell you,” concluded the host.
Rosie O’Donnell worked on several sitcoms, movies, pieces and TV shows. It was Betty in the live action of “Os Flintstones” (1994) and was in the cast of classics such as “Tuning of Love” (1993) and “Tarzan” (1999).
